Slaithwaite is a large village in West Yorkshire between Leeds and Manchester. It is in the beautiful Colne Valley close to the Pennines and Peak District National Park with its own station, rail links to Leeds and Manchester, and buses to Manchester and Huddersfield. It has several cafes, pubs, a wine bar and restaurants, as well as antique shops, craft shops, an art gallery and community-owned food shops. It also has its own philharmonic orchestra. The hills around Slaithwaite are popular for hiking, and there are also easy walks along the canal from the village.
